South Africa Consul Pays a Visit to Dubai Land Department

The Dubai Land Department (LD) strengthened its ties with South Africa last week when it welcomed the country’s Consul General to its office. The meeting occurred when His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Chairman of LD, invited Manabile Shogole from the South Africa Consulate to meet with him and with His Excellency Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of LD.

During the meeting, HH Sheikh Mohammed gave a detailed presentation to his guest about the history of the department and its evolving role in supporting and regulating real estate in the city. He highlighted LD’s development since its inception and outlined its importance as one of the key contributors to the UAE national economy. HH Sheikh Mohammed also discussed the various arms and agencies that support LD’s mission and exchanged views on the legislation that helps to regulate the property market and ensure its stability.

"We are always keen to welcome international visitors to LD so that we can to showcase our real estate experience and explain how the sector is so important for Dubai,” said His Highness Sheikh Mohammed. “LD has become a model of efficiency that governments worldwide would like to emulate. These visits form part of a strategy to reveal the workings of LD to contemporaries through a transparent engagement with senior representatives from other governments. The meetings are mutually beneficial and support Dubai's mission to become the world's number one environment for attracting real estate investments,” he added.

The Consul General expressed deep gratitude to HH Sheikh Mohammed for the warm welcome he received during his visit. He also praised the developments undertaken by the department and the considerable progress made by streamlining its resolution services and adopting new technology that has improved and enhanced LD customer interactions.

“Embracing the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has helped us to boost the emirate’s property sector, with our ongoing activities having a positive impact on the market,” said HH Sheikh Mohammed. “LD is happy to receive delegations that can benefit from its global experience. Our guests are able to see what we do and take our best practices with them to apply them in their home countries," he added.
