Dubai Land Department's Assistant Director General takes 24th spot in annual rating
Dubai Land Department has announced that it is delighted that Majida Ali Rashid has been voted as number 24 on the list of the World's 100 Most Powerful Arab Women. The Assistant Director General of DLD was positioned in the top quarter on this year's annual rating from Arabian Business publication, with her department keen to highlight the accolade that is the latest in her many successes recorded throughout her career.
"We are extremely pleased to be able to express our pride in Ms. Majida Ali Rashid who has successfully been placed at number 24 on the World's 100 Most Powerful Arab Women for 2015. It is a reflection on both the achievements of the whole team at DLD and the incredible capabilities of female UAE nationals and Arab women in general," said HE Sultan Bin Mejren, Director General, DLD.
The World's 100 Most Powerful Arab Women list highlights the most influential women in the Arab world across a variety of divergent fields, including Banking and Finance, Technology, Media, Law, Arts and Entertainment, Science and the Armed Forces. HE Sheikha Lubna Al Qassimi, UAE Minister for Foreign Trade, topped the list for the fifth consecutive year.
Commenting on her win, Majida Ali Rashid said: "Joining this prestigious list was the result of the continuous encouragement of the wise rulers of the UAE, who push for Emirati women to obtain higher degrees and enrollment in a cross-section of industries. This is part of their visionary strategy to grow the national economy in order for the UAE to remain a leader in the region and the world. On this occasion, I want to express my deep thanks to all my colleagues in the department who have enabled me to carry out my duties and responsibilities to the fullest."
The importance and quality of Majida Ali Rashid's work was recognised last year when she was presented with the prestigious Female CEO of the Year Award at the CEO Middle East Awards. As Assistant Director General of DLD and head of the Investment Management and Promotion Centre, the department's investment arm, Rashid has played an important role in developing Dubai's real estate sector and contributed significantly to its standing as a premium investment destination. During her tenure, she has explored numerous opportunities for the promotion of Dubai, launching schemes that have contributed to attracting global investment to Dubai's real estate sector, while at the same time ensuring transparency in the market through a process of constant quality monitoring.
