Dubai Land Department (DLD) has collected two major accolades in recognition of its advanced electronic and social media services for customers. The government real estate agency picked up Golden Shield Awards for its website and its Facebook page at the e-Government Excellence Awards.
DLD was honoured for its innovative platform at the fifth session of the annual awards event, which is hosted by the Pan-Arab Excellence Awards Academy. The awards ceremony was attended by a large number of distinguished and eminent guests, including senior government officials from across the region.
Majida Ali Rashid, Assistant Director General, DLD received the Golden Award Shield on behalf of DLD for its Facebook page, with the award accolade of ‘best interactive platform’ given under the category of social media sites for official institutions. The Golden Shield Award for the DLD website, which was won in the strategic official institution website category was collected by a team from DLD, including Majida Ali Rashid, HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General, DLD; Judge Abdul Kader Musa, Head of the Rental Dispute Settlement Centre, DLD and Ishtar Yasiri, Senior Manager, Marketing and Corporate Communications, DLD.
“We are proud to receive these regional awards that recognise the department’s efforts in the electronic and social media sphere. We believe that we must continue to make further progress in this area, especially since the world around us is witnessing the IT revolution,” Said Sultan Butti Bin Mejren Director General of DLD. "These two awards embody our desire to keep up with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world," he added.
"We credit this achievement to the teamwork in the department which supports the ongoing efficiency of our social media channels, as well as our official website,” said Majida Ali Rashid, Assistant Director General, DLD. “Our employees are fully engaged in the process of content development and communication with customers and followers. They are extremely active in supplementing the public and users with the latest information that serves investment in the real estate market, in line with government guidelines to provide intelligent services via mobile phones and tablet devices," she added.
DLD has recently worked on strengthening its presence on social media channels, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram, as well as also upgrading its website. The ongoing developments have improved the platforms and allowed the organisation to significantly increase its number of followers and visitors.
The Arab e-Government Awards is one of the most prominent awards programmes in the region dealing with e-services. Entrants to the scheme are evaluated by an expert panel of judges comprising different nationalities. Winners are selected on the basis of several criteria, including creativity, ease of use, structure, visual design, aesthetics and content.
