[Dubai - United Arab Emirates, 08 June 2015] – Dubai Land Department (DLD) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the government of Estonia to promote mutual cooperation in the field of real estate registration. The strategic alliance between the Dubai government's real estate regulatory body and the Estonia government's Centre of Registers and Information Systems will see the two organisations working closely together on issues that include information technology.
"At DLD, we are constantly seeking ways to harness the very best cognitive tools that help us improve our e-services. Estonia has managed in a short period of time to achieve concrete progress in this area, so DLD has taken the decision to enter into a partnership with its prestigious institutions. Our strategic alliance will allow us to exchange experiences and best practices related to real estate registration, with a particular focus on digital services," said HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of DLD.
The alliance was agreed following a DLD visit to the Estonian capital Tallinn earlier this year, which was headed by HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General, DLD. The delegation included Majida Ali Rashid, Assistant Director General ,DLD and Juma Bin Humaidan, Deputy Director General ,DLD . During the visit, the DLD representatives met with senior members of Estonia's e-Government to discuss ways of joint cooperation and coordination in relation to real estate registration and digital property.
Following technical negotiations, DLD hosted a reciprocal visit for members of the Estonia government's Centre of Registers and Information Systems, with the MOU being officially signed in Dubai. The signatories were Mr. Mehis Sihvart, Director Centre of Registers and Information Systems Estonia and HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General, DLD.
"This important new partnership stems from DLD witnessing the impressive achievements of Estonia in the arena of electronic infrastructure. We have therefore agreed to establish a relationship with the country's specialised institutions and research centres. The first step in this direction has been taken with the Estonia government's Centre of Registers and Information Systems, with whom we have agreed on many issues," said HE Sultan Bin Mejren.
The joint cooperation agreement between DLD and the Estonia government's Centre of Registers and Information Systems will see the centre provide relevant information and advisory IT services to DLD. It will also involve the centre supplying and installing information technology that supports operations carried out by DLD and its various departments.
