Dubai Land Department Signs Cooperation Agreement with Etisalat
27 March 2014

Dubai Land Department (DLD) has announced that it has signed a cooperation and coordination agreement with Emirates Telecommunications Corporation, the UAE organisation better known as Etisalat. The tie-up will promote strategic cooperation between the two entities across a number of economic and technical areas, with the aim of achieving mutual strategic objectives.

The memorandum of understanding was signed at DLD’s Headquarters in Dubai by HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of DLD and HE Abdalla Salem Al Mania, Director General of Etisalat. It provides for the development of practical, scientific and technical connections between both parties and aims to enhance their shared vision. Ultimately, the cooperation agreement is expected to lead to a simplification of procedures and the improved development of customer services for both organisations.

"DLD is extremely interested in securing relationships with national companies in order to promote the services that each one provides and to address their respective challenges. By working together, we can find opportunities to accomplish common goals and interests, "said HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of DLD.

The terms of the memorandum cover the implementation of common electronic projects, the exchange of knowledge and studies, the sharing of institutional experiences and the mutual support of innovation. The organisations will work together to develop their services and upgrade their infrastructure, using their combined skills and areas of expertise to optimise outcomes.
“Etisalat is keen on building relationships and effective partnerships with government departments in Dubai in order to strengthen cooperative bonds. This will assist us in achieving the vision of our country’s wise leadership, which is aimed at consolidating and strengthening Dubai's position as a centre of commerce, business, tourism and knowledge in the region," said Abdalla Salem Al Mania, Director General of Etisalat.

DLD’s operations fall under the umbrella of the Dubai Executive Council, with the organisation coordinating its objectives with national companies from across different economic sectors. The aim of these meetings is to reach workable formulas that lead to strategic relations that benefit all relevant parties. In its role, DLD is seeking to lead the regional and global real estate market by disseminating knowledge about the sector and developing the necessary legislation to encourage investment.

“Telecommunication services play a vital role in all activities undertaken by DLD, especially its new applications that follow the e-government and smart city initiatives. These are particularly significant as we start to set the stage for the nation’s hosting of Expo 2020,” added Bin Mejren.
