The Dubai Land Department has announced that its participation in this year’s Cityscape Global 2013 will have a focus on the promotion of the services that it has launched recently, most notably its Registration Trustees Service, which is being offered through a number of offices that have been established in different areas of Dubai.
The Registration Trustees Service is aimed at enabling the completion of Land Department transactions after official working hours and without the need for visiting the Department’s main offices. The satellite facilities are legal offices licensed by the Land Department that have been designed to save clients’ time and energy, while at the same time helping to minimise daily congestion at the Land Department’s main office. An additional benefit to the high quality service these new offices will be providing is that they are creating job opportunities for national lawyers to work in the real estate sector.
“We are keen to stand for the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to work with international standards to dedicate to innovative e-government strategies,” said H.E Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of the Land Department. “This service is framed in our determined pursuit of consistent excellence for all of the services that we offer to our customers," he added.
“We are aiming through our participation in Cityscape Global to highlight the services that we’ve launched since Cityscape Global 2012. We will have a team of experts from the Department available for the duration of the event to answer any inquiries that the general public might have related to the Registration Trustees Service or indeed any of our other services and functions,” added bin Mejren.
“The new service will save customers time and effort and reduce their need to travel, as well as contributing to the alleviation of daily congestion at the Land Department’s own service centre. One additional benefit that the new Registration Trustee office openings has had, unassociated with the advantages it offers to customers, is that it has given Emirati lawyers a valuable opportunity to work in the real estate market. The phased opening of the satellite offices is helping the sector’s drive towards Emiratisation,” he added.
The total number of Registration Trustees offices approved by the Land Department is 13, with seven offices brought on line now. It is anticipated that the new off-site registration service will help stimulate the property market by speeding up transactions. The service enables customers to bring necessary documents into the satellite offices, which then attest and formalise them. The office arranges the documents to be approved by the Land Department, where the customer can collect them, or if preferred can receive them via courier from the office.
“Any person who wishes to work in this service must have a bachelor's degree in law, be a citizen of the UAE and be prepared to undertake a training course to become qualified to provide this service,” said Sultan Akraf, Senior Manager of Registration Services, Real Estate Said: “They must also be committed to the principles of high ethical behaviour, such as working with integrity and transparency. They need to take into account the interests of the contracting parties and to maintain their privacy and respect for regulations and procedures in the department,” he added.
