Dubai Land Department Maps Out Real Estate Growth
17 September 2014
Government department registers 6,636 properties and issues 18,925 maps in H1 2014

Dubai Land Department (DLD) has issued its transaction report for H1 2014, revealing that it registered a total of 6,636 properties across the emirate in the first six months of the year. For the first time ever, the government organisation’s half-yearly report was accompanied by a document released by its Technical Affairs Department, which revealed that it had produced 18,925 maps covering the emirate’s real estate sector over the same period.

?”This form of reporting helps us to understand how the market is evolving and prepares us for growth in the volume of transactions,” said Mohammed Khodr Al Dah, Senior Director, Technical Affairs Department, DLD. “The production of property maps allows us to meet the expectations of customers and provide the best service possible by ensuring continuous developments that match the changes,” he added.

The Technical Affairs Department’s new report, which was compiled by its Drawings and Survey division, revealed that partition schemes accounted for 14,149 land maps issued in the first six months of 2014. A total of 316 villa maps and 4,460 maps for residential units were produced over the same timeframe, the latter category including offices and apartments.

"The sheer quantity of maps that our Technical Affairs Department is producing is an indication of the healthy growth in Dubai’s real estate sector. We are anticipating an increase in the number of cartography procedures we will be undertaking during the second half of this year, especially in light of the predicted greater number of developments being launched in the emirate from real estate companies. There are also extensive studies required for the feasibility of future projects, all of which require maps and plans,” continued Al Dah.

DLD’s H1 2014 transaction report revealed that its Survey Department logged 4,760 new properties across the emirate and 4,024 separation procedures for land, the majority of which were in freehold areas. The section registered 16,671 properties in freehold areas that had been coordinated with DLD’s ‘Ejari’ system which documents rental contracts in the emirate.
