29 March 2014

The Dubai Land Department (DLD) has honoured its employees who participated in the Dubai Government Excellence Award 2014 with an internal ceremony held to thank them for their efforts. The staff members being acknowledged at the special event had all taken part in the ‘Treasures of Excellence;’ an internal DLD programme that entitles them to enter into the Dubai Government Excellence initiative.

HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General (DG) of DLD, was present at the ceremony to hand out certificates and awards to the employees in recognition of their achievement. Also in attendance was the DG’s assistant, Majida Ali Rashid, members of DLD senior management and directors of its various departments.

"Our employees are our most valuable asset - it is their dedication and commitment that constitutes the main aspect of success in all our projects,” said HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General, DLD. “We value their skills highly and take a proactive approach to ensuring their professional development by holding regular workshops and seminars. These initiatives are aimed at continuously raising their abilities to enable them to best represent the department and provide the highest level of service to our customers,” he added."
DLD’s Treasures of Excellence programme received a total of 30 applications from employees from across the organisation’s departments, with the number of successful finalists reduced to eight in seven categories. The extensive preparatory process to find the successful candidates included an internal evaluation and ongoing interviews and reviews, which took place over two months.

DLD named the eight finalists and their respective categories as the following: Distinguished Female Employee (Hamda Al Shamsi), Creative Employee (Mossa Al Halian), Distinguished financial entity (Distinguished administrative initiative – Dubai Real Estate Institute), The Distinguished Electronic Government Entity (Panel of experts)

In addition to honouring the finalists in the DLD Treasures of Excellence scheme, Bin Mejren also praised the evaluation judges, the internal audit team and the improvement services team, in recognition of their efforts in facilitating the programme and excelling in the tasks assigned to them.

"This ceremony honours an elite group of DLD employees and is being held within the framework of the DLD staff appreciation scheme. It helps reinforce the status of the department and adds to its premium staff development reputation that has been forged over more than five decades,” added Bin Mejren. “It is thanks to the dedication of this cadre of staff members that DLD has been able to win several awards and achieve competitive results at both the local and global level,” he added.

Majida Ali Rashid, Assistant Director General and Head, Real Estate Investment Management and Promotion Centre, said; “Awarding our best employees encourages a positive spirit and competition across the DLD team, urging others onto greater creativity, innovation and excellence in their work. We aim to help employees develop their performances in line with our core values, which promote the highest standards of service. We pride ourselves in fostering an environment that rewards and nurtures talent, as this encourages the retention of staff as well as ensuring the greatest degree of professionalism.”

DLD’s Treasures of Excellence is just one of the initiatives under the Dubai Government Excellence Award, a programme launched by his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to evaluate the performance of government departments and institutions in the emirate. The award is given to government departments, personalities and institutions distinct to increase the levels of performance in government agencies and act as a tool to promote corporate excellence.
