Dubai Land Department discusses the sustainability initiative with the developers during the "Cityscape"

Dubai Land Department (DLD) thrived through its participation in the recent edition of Cityscape Global 2014, "Cityscape 2014" which was held at Dubai World Trade Centre, DLD’s involvement at the 13th edition of Cityscape, the organisation showed its latest services designed to maximise ease and convenience for customers and to emphasize on its active role in organizing, educating and spreading awareness in the real estate sector.
In this context, HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of DLD, and Majida Ali Rashid Assistant Director General met with a group of senior real estate developers during the event, and held a meeting attended by nearly 20 developers represents the largest real estate development companies.
"This meeting was one of the fruitful results that DLD gained from its participation in the last edition of Cityscape 2014. In addition to our commitment to meet the investors who came to learn more about investment opportunities in Dubai's property market, we had a valuable opportunity to meet with this group of top real estate developers in Dubai", said Majida Ali Rashid, Assistant Director General, and Head of Investment Management and Promotion Center's the investment arm of DLD.
Majida Ali Rashid, as the Head of the Investment Management and Promotion Center, who was responsible for the launch of Real Estate Sustainability Initiative, presented an expanded explanation on the efforts being made by the Centre in this regard, and discussed with the developers this initiative, which is the latest scheme of the center in this area. This initiative gains its importance as it is following the themes of the national initiative introduced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai: “Green Economy for Sustainable Development” in the framework of a national strategy to position the UAE as a world leader in the arena and following the UAE Vision 2021 to build a sustainable and diversified economy based on knowledge and innovation.
Majida concluded: "The meeting was fruitful and friendly, and prevailed in an atmosphere of constructive and purposeful dialogue in order to exchange views and ideas on ways to ensure that incorporation of sustainable real estate market in the Emirate of Dubai. This can be achieved easily through the ongoing cooperation between the regulators and the regulatory hand, and between development companies, note that all developers were willing to completely cooperate with directions set by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, is aimed at transforming the UAE into one of the world leaders and a centre for the export and re-export of green products and technologies, and to maintain a sustainable environment to support long-term economic growth”.
The main developers who participated in this meeting were: Damac, Deyaar, Falcon City, Dubai Properties, "Indigo", Tanmiyat, "The Hills," "Omniyat", "Miras" and "Sobha", in addition to many other companies working in the real estate development sector. During the meeting, the developers confirmed on joining the real estate sustainability initiative in order to achieve the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
In conclusion, Majida Ali Rashid discussed the three dimensions of sustainability (ecological, social and economic). At the same time, they discussed various aspects widely known on the sustainability criteria and ways to apply it and deal with it.
