The Dubai Land Department (DLD) was the recent host of a high level representative of Kuwait. HE Diab Farhan Al-Rashidi, Consul General of Kuwait in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, was received by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Head of DLD, with the meeting agenda including a discussion on how DLD could provide support for the development of the Kuwait property sector.
Also in attendance to greet the Kuwait dignitary during his visit were HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of DLD, Juma Bin Humaidan, Deputy Director General of DLD and Yousef al-Hashimi, Deputy CEO of the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA), the regulatory arm of DLD. The meeting formed part of the framework of friendly relations and close cooperation between the two Gulf States.
“DLD is linked by fraternal ties to and friendly relationships with all our brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council,” said HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Head of DLD. “These partnerships stem from a commitment to continuously coordinate and exchange experiences, so that we can improve the management of all Gulf property sectors. This will enable them to operate in harmony with the highest international standards,” he added.
"We are keen to share our expertise, making it accessible to all. Our objective is to coordinate with our brothers and improve their performance by utilising the various arms and agencies of DLD, transferring the knowledge and experience we have gained from the past decades of property sector management and regulation in Dubai,” he continued.
For his part, HE Consul General of Kuwait praised the economic and urban development witnessed by Dubai and the UAE in general. He noted the importance of the fraternal relations existing between the countries, stressing how these ties would benefit the citizens of both nations.
"The experience accumulated by our brothers in DLD can be tapped for the development of the urban sector of Kuwait. We recognise that DLD’s expertise has reached a world-class and highly advanced level, thanks to their reliance on best practices and standards. We congratulate them on the numerous accolades and awards they have attained in the scope of their work. Their achievements in excellence and innovation have resulted in global admiration and helped underpin their successful bid to host Expo 2020, a major feat and one for which we further applaud them,” he added.
The visit from the Consul General of Kuwait was just the latest in a series of meetings that DLD has conducted with representatives of the country. Last December, a delegation headed by Mohammed Hamad Al Assem, Deputy Assistant for State Property Affairs at Kuwait’s Ministry of Finance, was received at DLD to witness the organisation’s work and view its current projects. The dignitary was accompanied by a number of Kuwaiti government officials, including colleagues from the Ministry of Finance, the Kuwait Municipality and the IT Central Apparatus. The visit of this delegation came in response to a recommendation from the World Bank, which had conducted a study on land status in Kuwait. The organisation advised that Kuwait seek technical assistance from experts to re-regulate its state property.
